A weekend of Photography
The Light Room is excited to host the second f8 & be there photography weekend - an educational celebration of photography—bringing together film, digital, and phone photographers to connect, collaborate, and create.
Spend the weekend shooting, learning, observing, and exchanging ideas while building inspiration and strengthening your portfolio. The event features unique shooting opportunities, guest speakers, darkroom demonstrations, a gallery show of local music photography, several live band performances, and a celebration of Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day.
With equipment and camera giveaways, plus experiences designed for all levels, this event welcomes everyone—from curious beginners to seasoned professionals. No matter your gear or skill level, there’s something here for you. See the full lineup of f8 events here.

Friday, April 24th, 7pm – 9pm - Night Walkabout - Join local photographers Lou Columbus & Brittany Rivas in downtown historic Panama City for a night time photo walkabout. On this walk there will be stops at local businesses and music venues. Lou & Brittany will explain and assist with photographing challenging lighting situations and provide composition tips and tricks. Friday, April 24, 6pm - 8pm - Music Venue Night Walkabout - Join local music photographer Jasper Dunesand for a night of music / band / musician photography at music venuesCurrent and Mosey’s. On this walk Jasper with explain and demonstrate how to deal with the tricky lighting music venues can impose. Get a hands on in real time instruction experience. Any skill level is invited. Saturday, April 25th 1pm – 2pm - Macro Workshop - Step into the world of close-up photography in this workshop which will cover what you need to get started. The instructor will discuss lens choice, lighting techniques, subject matter ideas, as well as the “reverse lens” macro method. Demos and hands on practice will provide a fun and informative experience. Any skill level is invited and macro equipment is available to use during the workshop. A free event. Sunday, April 26, Noon - 2pm - Pinhole Camera Demonstration - Come celebrate Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day with us. Prepare to be amazed at what these low tech photographic marvels can produce. Participants can borrow a pinhole camera or make their own. DSLR options are available. All skill levels are invited. Pinhole expert Mark Messerly will demonstrate pinhole camera operationand participants will be able make their own pinhole image and see a film and print processing demonstration.
